Em homenagem a 4 de Julho, data da Independência dos EUA,
que hoje completa 250 anos, compartilho lista de romances (novels), livros
não-ficcionais, livros de poesias e peças teatrais, que são considerados entre
os maiores clássicos da literatura americana.
A busca por qual seria o "Grande Romance
Americano" (Great American Novel) sempre foi uma obsessão literária
norte-americana. Escritores como Hemingway, Dos Passos, Steinbeck, F. Scott
Fitzgerald, Herman Melville, Mark Twain e Faulkner, escreveram livros que se
aproximam desse patamar.
